Ohio AI and Privacy Laws

Ohio has no broad AI law, consumer privacy law, or AI deepfake law.

What the law says

Its enacted AI rule covers public education: every public school district, community school, and STEM school had to adopt an AI use policy by July 1, 2026.

A bill on AI-generated child sexual abuse images and identity fraud (SB 163) passed the Senate in May 2026 and is pending in the House.

What this means for your organization

These rules apply mainly to state and local government. Agencies, public schools, and the vendors that serve them should expect requirements for AI inventories, written policies, and human oversight.

Our 2027 AI Governance Checklist covers the steps most organizations need, and our State AI Law Trackers explain the rules for specific industries.
