What the law says

Civil rights rules effective December 15, 2025 apply disparate impact liability to automated employment decision tools, and employers remain responsible for tools bought from vendors.

The FAIR Act, signed July 20, 2026, bans rent-setting software that pools competing landlords’ nonpublic data, starting July 1, 2027.

A 2025 law sets criminal and civil penalties for deceptive deepfakes, and the state’s consumer privacy law includes a profiling opt-out.
